What started as a Spin off from the IBEW Wives Facebook Group has now grown to a Nationwide Recognized Non-Profit Social Service Organization dedicated to serving fallen/injured IBEW Linemen/Apprentices.
In a few short months, we have proven to be more then just a Facebook Page/Group, we’ve Assisted 7 families, Being Spoke about at Union Meetings, Shared on IBEW Facebook Walls and Websites, are Attending Rodeo’s, have over 900 likes on Facebook, Have been sponsored by Linemen Tool & Apparel companies and growing members by the day. We were very humbled by the response. We thought going in, It was a great idea, but for as fast as it’s taking off… It’s proven to be an Excellent One! When an IBEW local sends an email, “Where do I mail the check”, That’s huge. You can’t put words to that. Overall, People just want to help, they know we are a legitimate organization and the FIRST of it’s Kind. Linemen for decades have ‘passed the hat’ at meetings and made personal contributions to families in need. Now, it’ll include to a personal home approach by the wives. Wives who understand the risks our husbands make daily.
With a vast number of Volunteers nationwide, NSUJL will continue to provide and dedicate hours and days to making their mission well known. Our Directors, Officers and Volunteers all do this for free. Any travel expense, office equipment and supplies, time spent, meetings, etc are all donated by the directors. Their payment is giving back to the Brotherhood, Henry Miller would be proud. All of our Members wouldn’t have it any other way. This is what Unions are all about. Supporting and helping one another without a motive or hidden agenda. It’s for the better of the industry. The better of the families who make daily sacrifices so their Linemen can provide electricity to the general public.
I can not put words to how honored I am to have the team we have and the members within the organization.
Thank you all,
Rae Johnson, President/Founder of N.S.U.J.L
