Competition Requirements & Key Information


Events:

  • All contestants must complete all 4 events (includes 2 mystery events).
  • Failure to complete all events results in disqualification.

Safety:

100% FALL PROTECTION IS REQUIRED AT ALL TIMES.

Union Requirements:

  • All Journeymen and Apprentices must be union members.
  • All Apprentices must be qualified climbers.

Apprentice Requirements:

  • An apprentice is anyone working through an IBEW apprenticeship who has not yet achieved Journeyman Lineman classification.
  • Apprentices reclassified to Journeyman within 30 days of the rodeo may still compete as apprentices.
  • Apprentices must be qualified climbers.
  • Your organization must provide 1 judge for every 2 apprentices you sponsor.

Mandatory Judges (Journeyman Teams):

  • Each Journeyman Team must register one judge.

Required Gear:

  • Climbers, belt, safety strap, 100% fall protection system
  • Hard hat, safety glasses w/ side shields
  • Cotton or FR long‑sleeve shirt
  • Leather gloves, hand tools
  • Knife (no razor knives)
  • All tools must be labeled with your name.

Registration & Shirts:

  • Registration after May 15th, 2026 is allowed, up to event day.
  • Free long‑sleeve shirts & mini buckets are not guaranteed after this date.
  • Extras are first‑come, first‑served.

Team Member Changes:

  • Participant names may be updated until June 8th, 2026.
