Help Us Help Families In Need

  • by

Spring is Here:

From flowers blooming and the onset of allergies to torrential rains and tornadoes – springtime is most certainly here.  Our lineworkers are always on call 24/7 as they are working hard to repair damaged power lines and restore power.  Not only are they away from their homes and families, but they are also tired from working 7-days a week, sometimes in treacherous conditions.  This can sometimes lead to unsafe conditions, which is why NSUJL has seen an uptick in incidents this spring season.

Incidents:

NSUJL has received 4 separate reports of recent incidents and accidents that have occurred within the past two weeks.  NSUJL is always honored to be able to offer support and financial aid to those in need and has been jumping in to help support these families immediately.  For instance, many are probably not aware, but NSUJL sends an immediate $1,000 check to families as soon as they find out about an accident.  This helps to help cover medical bills, travel expenses to/from the hospital, hotel stays, meals – or whatever the family needs most.  By taking some financial burden off families, it allows them to be together and focus on the healing and/or grieving process.

With the increase in incidents and a decrease in donations due to the Covid-19 pandemic, NSUJL needs your support now more than ever.  NSUJL is proud to be able to support beneficiaries for up to a year following an accident.  Currently, the NSUJL is assisting 6 families from earlier incidents which total nearly $15,000 of financial support per month.  With the three new accidents, this total monthly support may be close to $20,000 per month.  This is amazing that NSUJL is able to provide this level of support to those in need – but they cannot do it without the help and support of volunteers, members, donors, and sponsors.

How to Donate:

If you would like to donate directly to NSUJL please visit https://nsujl.org/product/donation-nsujl-charitable-donation/ to make a tax-deductible donation which will go directly towards achieving the mission of helping families of lineworkers. This will help aid in the continuation of benefits to lineworker families in need, as well as provide new benefits to those who have been newly injured and their families.  Thank you for your continued support.
