9th Annual Lineworkers Benefit Rodeo
June 19 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Every year, NSUJL holds a Lineman’s Rodeo to help raise funds for the mission of supporting fallen and injured power lineworkers after an on the job accident. 100% of the proceeds from this event are used to fulfill our mission.
Why should you support NSUJL’s rodeo?
2019 was a tragic year within our community. Due to multiple industry accidents, line-families currently have an overwhelming need for our support. Unlike other foundations, NSUJL will provide both immediate and long term assistance to these families. Through us, these line-families can and will receive physical, emotional and financial support for up to 12 months. Additionally, age-appropriate children of fallen linemen can also receive college scholarships through NSUJL’s John Plante Scholarship Fund. Our ability to aid current and future line-families depends solely on your support.
What is Climbing for Lost Linemen?
Each June, on the eve of their annual Rodeo, NSUJL and Climbing For Lost Linemen hold a ceremony honoring all brothers who lost their lives on the line during the prior 12 months.
The ceremony takes place at dusk and is a tribute that cannot be described in words – but by the chills and tears on our fellow brother and sisters’ faces. A lantern is raised with each fallen brother’s name etched on it, as a brother climbs the pole to hang it and light the candle within. A moment of silence then takes place in the honoree’s memory. At the top, they then light the candle within and take a moment of silence for the fallen brother. This event is by far the most symbolic of all we do, and why we do it.
