James Michael Dillon, 92, passed away on September 4, 2022. Jim was a lineman for Niagara Mohawk (now National Grid) in Cortland, New York, and a member of IBEW Local 97 for over 30 years, retiring in 1995.  In 2021 he received a special commendation for 65 years as an IBEW member. Jim spent his whole life in Homer, married his high school sweetheart in 1953, and spent 55 years with Prudy before her passing in 2008. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  Jim is survived by his five children, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

We are proud to say that three generations of Dillon men are associated with the Power Industry – Jim, his sons Timothy and James, and grandson Schuyler. That’s not surprising, given that our dinner table often became the stand-in for the day’s job site while forks, knives, and salt and pepper shakers became poles, guy wires, bucket trucks, and other equipment. Dad was a firm believer in the power of unions, their lobbying efforts, and protecting the benefits those efforts provide for all workers.

Thank you for your contribution to this important group in Jim’s memory.
